100% Natural Soft Color Wall Finish from Milk Cartons
The Director of PAPER WORKS Inc., Mr. Matsuzaki, is a potter. One day while giving a training course in pottery at an institution for the disabled, he saw one of the people there making postcards from the pulp from milk cartons. He noticed that the texture of the paper held a similar charm to traditional Japanese washi paper but realized that as few people buy postcards, it was not economically viable. And so he decided to create a wall finish using recycled pulp from milk cartons. In order to ensure a high value for the product, he was very careful with ingredients. As a result of long hours of research, he came up with a material that uses nothing other than plant starch (methylcellulose), recycled pulp, food preservatives, color-providing earth, and water. And the pulp is all hand-made by the residents at the institution for the disabled.
Cherry blossoms, willows, daybreak and other beautiful colors stem from techniques used with soil in traditional pottery. There are 14 basic colors, and changes can be made to accommodate orders of five boxes (100 kg) or more. SUISHI is a plaster wall finish so individual customers in Japan should contact a carpenter for the application. For companies wishing to sell it in other countries, PAPER WORKS will teach you the application techniques.
SUISHI has a large amount of natural fibers and so will not peel or crack. And because it is made of natural materials, it can be washed off with water.
