ADditional is the ‘brand’-child of eco-designer, Kayoko Yonaga. She puts the brand philosophy of “fashionable re-use” into practice with her unique line of eco-bags made from discarded nobori advertising banners. She began to collect discarded nobori from shops and remake them into eco-bags with her own handiwork. Hence, the origin of the brand name: ADditional creates “additional” value by creating eco-bags from the discarded nobori “ADvertising banners.”
When eco-designer, Kayoko Yonaga found out that nobori advertising banners are generally disposed of, often in huge volumes, after being used for just a short time, she decided to create her unique line of NOBORI Eco-Bags made from the discarded material.
Behind scenes
Nobori are the advertising banners you see in front of Japanese stores beckoning potential customers. They originated in feudal Japan as banners with unique patterns or family emblems denoting individual units in samurai armies, enabling the samurai to tell friend from foe.

ADditional is willing to discuss with future partners for collaboration and creation of customized designs, using nobori.
ADditional eco-bags reuse materials from discarded nobori so they are good for the environment. Another plus is that as each one is hand-made, you can ask for your own made-to-order bag with a unique pattern.
